| 2012 September ----- Vote Yes on Prop. 30, No on Prop. 32! Jerry Brown: Vote Yes On Proposition 30 It's time to take a stand and get our state back on track. read more HERE. Stop the Special Exemptions Act: Vote NO on Prop 32! CEOs and corporate special interests already spend millions trying to influence elections in California -- and now they want Special Exemptions to gain even more power. That's why the Sacramento Bee's Dan Morain said "The 'Stop Special Interest Money Now Act' won't do anything of the kind..." (12/22/11). The so-called "Stop Special Interest Money Now Act" was really intentionally written to allow billionaire businessmen and shady Super PACs to continue spending secret money on elections. Even worse, it limits the voices of everyday heroes like nurses, teachers and firefighters to speak out on critical issues. Learn more and pledge to Vote NO on Prop 32 HERE. Watch Ad No On 32: Have You Heard? HERE Prop 32 claims it will stop campaign spending by special interests, but it exempts those who are funding the campaign. Those special interests will have free reign to give themselves more tax breaks, while the middle class pays the price. Prop 32 is not what it seems. ----- Madera County Democratic Party Booth at the Madera Old Timer's Day In The Park Festival and Parade on Saturday, September 29, 2012 @9:00AM-3PM (booth set-up is from 7AM-8:45AM) Parade 10AM-12NOON Come Cheer for Congressman Jim Costa! ----- California Alliance For Retired Americans (CARA) Regional Convention Speakers, information & fun. ----- Oakhurst Non-GMO Dinner and Forum On Saturday, September 22, 2012 @5:30-7:30PM (Free Forum begins at 6:15PM) At the Oakhurst Senior Center, 39800 Road 425B, Oakhurst, CA (next to the Oakhurst Community Center) The Yosemite Area Move to Amend is sponsoring a Dinner and Forum to get the word out about GMOs (genetically modified foods). These changes in our food supply are an example of how some corporations are using corporate money and influence to get what they want at the public's expense. And, yes, there really is something we can do about it, vote YES on Prop 37! So, you are invited to this Forum with a NON-GMO Dinner cooked by Betty Persson (choice of either organic Chicken or Veggie Dinner). To make the event more fun Jimmy Collier will provide live music, a blend of folk, blues, gospel, country and soul. Pete Seeger described Jimmy as, "the real thing... he makes music live...." The right wing's national anti-labor campaign has come to California as wealthy corporate backers push a ballot initiative they claim is about special interests, but in fact is designed to silence the voices of working families here in our state. Meanwhile, more than a half dozen Republican-held Congressional Districts are up for grabs giving us a once-a-decade opportunity to help Win Back the House and deliver a Democratic Congress that will work with President Obama, not against him. And thanks to Governor Brown, California is on the road to recovery and with your help we'll elect a true Democratic majority to help overrule do-nothing Republicans in Sacramento. Join the Battleground California a project of CADEM campaign HERE. --- Republicans are out to silence working families in California and give Wall Street an all access electoral pass. Fight back! Please promote these workshops in your county committee and clubs and among other interested members of your communities. Specifically, please outreach to other progressive groups and clubs, as well as organizations in line with our values. The deadline to file as a District-Level Delegate is fast approaching. Democrats have until Wednesday, April 11 to file as a District-Level Delegate (Form A). As you know, the CDP is responsible to aggressively outreach to each of our Democratic constituents to make sure they realize they have the opportunity to run individuals from their community to become a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, which is set for September 3-6, 2012 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The official plan, adopted by the CDP EBoard and approved by the DNC is on our website (www.cadem.org/delegate2012) and includes links to all the forms (A, B, C), key dates, the number of delegates and alternates allocated per CD (five to eleven) and most importantly our Affirmative Action goals. There are a total of 611 delegates and 46 alternates for California. On Sunday, April 29, District Caucuses (365 delegates and 34 alternates to be selected) will be held in each CD. Once elected, the delegation meeting is on June 24, where the 61 PLEOs, 121 At-Large Delegates and 12 At-Large Alternates are confirmed. The presidential campaign has a responsibility and need to do effective outreach, but as you know becoming a delegate via the April 29, 2012 District Caucuses requires foot power, with 100300 of loyal friends showing up and voting for you. In any correspondence you send out (email or otherwise), please mention the delegate selection process. Please refer people to our Delegate Selection web page. Keep in mind, that this June, the CDP will allow "no party preference" voters to vote in our June Presidential Primary, but only Democrats can participate in our April 29 caucuses. As in years past, the Republicans will not allow no party preferencevoters to vote in their Presidential Primary. This event is being coordinated with similar events taking place nationwide, for the purpose of building momentum for a Constitutional Amendment to abolish “corporate personhood” and overturn the 2010 Supreme Court decision Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, which lets unlimited corporate funds flood our election system. Around the country, support is growing for a constitutional amendment that would clearly state that constitutional protections and civil rights are for natural persons only, not for fictitious “corporate persons.” On December 6, Los Angeles became the largest of dozens of cities in the United States that have passed resolutions calling for a constitutional amendment that would assert that corporations are not entitled to constitutional rights, and that money is not the same as free speech. The LA City Council vote was unanimous. --------- |
